I am honored to be a part of the Waterford Township School District and to serve as the Principal at Waterford Elementary School.  While serving this community for the past ten years, I have been a part of some very exciting changes and look forward to continued professional growth.  As the new principal at Waterford Elementary School, I am excited to begin a new journey in my professional career.  I have had the honor of working with the WES staff as both an administrator and as a teacher.

As we begin the 2016-2017 school year, we have made some changes to the schedule of Waterford Elementary School that will have a positive impact on our students.  Our sixth graders will be rotating classes which was a decision made through the input of staff and families.  Our goal is to prepare our students for their upcoming middle and high school years in Hammonton.  We believe that providing our students with this type of schedule is both academically sound and effectively prepares them for their transition into Hammonton.

In fifth grade, students will rotate classes between English Language Arts and Social Studies and again between Math and Science.  We will have a total of six teachers with three teachers each instructing ELA/Social Studies and Math/Science.

At the fourth grade level, our schedule is only slightly different.  All students will remain with the same teacher for the duration of the day.  The only difference in fourth grade is the introduction of RtI (Response to Intervention) time blocks to service students in both Math and ELA.  The time blocks provide the teaching staff with additional time to provide supplemental services to students in need of remediation and enrichment.  All grade levels will have at least one block of RtI.  The additional blocks allow for most students to receive targeted instruction without disrupting the academic schedule.

In addition to the above changes, we will continuously assess the effectiveness of our school environment utilizing staff input, feedback from families and students, and data collected throughout the duration of the school year.

Furthermore, we recognize that developing a culture of learning also requires a focus on social, emotional, and academic development.   Student success in these areas is what we strive to achieve on a daily basis.   As educators, we recognize the importance of preparing our children for their future and realize we must equip our students with the necessary tools so that they can meet with success.

Lastly, we recognize the importance of parent participation in the learning process.  We encourage parents to communicate frequently with teachers and administrators, ask questions when unsure, and never settle for average when it comes to your child.  As educators, we realize that parents are an important and valuable resource when it comes to student achievement.  We look forward to working with your child each day, and we are committed to providing your child with the very best education.

Sincerely,
Patrick Davidson, Principal
